Palazzo Mondadori / Office As A Playground

The Office As A Playground rethinks Palazzo Mondadori not as a fixed office landscape, but as a more open and sociable workplace. Developed inside one of Oscar Niemeyer's most celebrated buildings, the project balances respect for the original architecture with a new spatial culture shaped by informal encounters, transparency, reconfigurable furniture, and a closer relationship to daylight and the surrounding park.

The Office As A Playground is a renovation project for Oscar Niemeyer's Palazzo Mondadori in Milan, developed by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati in collaboration with Italo Rota and Maestro Technologies. The intervention reimagines more than 20,000 square meters of office space, preserving the character of Niemeyer's landmark while introducing a more fluid and interaction-driven workplace shaped by adaptable layouts, transparent meeting spaces, natural light, and reconfigured furniture systems.
